WHO WE ARE
Kipseli Architects is a creative architecture studio founded in 2014 with head architect Kirki Mariolopoulou.
Based on the concept of the beehive ("kipseli" in greek), it aims to transform the urban space through a unique structure of cooperation, concentrating on the environment and the human existence within it. It focuses on the value of the uniqueness of each idea, by relating architecture and interior design with other forms of art.
For Kirki Mariolopoulou, architecture has always been a means of expression of both art and science. It is an act of giving to each person on an individual level and a contribution to culture on a collective level.
In 2021 Kirki starts Circe, her personal architecture practice, focusing exclusively on the design of mindful life-enhancing experiences in one-of-a-kind homes. Through communication and conceptual analysis, the aim is to explore and discover all aspects of one’s being and instill them into the project, breathing life into every house design concept.

Η Κυψέλη Αρχιτεκτονικής είναι ένα δημιουργικό αρχιτεκτονικό γραφείο, το οποίο ιδρύθηκε το 2014 με επι κεφαλής την αρχιτέκτονα Κίρκη Mαριολοπούλου. Βασισμένο στην έννοια της κυψέλης («Κυψέλη»), στοχεύει να μεταμορφώσει τον αστικό χώρο μέσα από μια μοναδική δομή συνεργασίας, επικεντρωμένη στο περιβάλλον και την ανθρώπινη ύπαρξη μέσα σε αυτό. Επικεντρώνεται στην αξία της μοναδικότητας κάθε ιδέας, συνδέοντας την αρχιτεκτονική και τον εσωτερικό σχεδιασμό με άλλες μορφές τέχνης.
Για την Κίρκη Μαριολοπούλου, η αρχιτεκτονική υπήρξε ανέκαθεν ένας τρόπος έκφρασης τόσο της τέχνης όσο και της επιστήμης. Είναι μια πράξη προσφοράς σε κάθε άτομο σε ατομικό επίπεδο και μια συμβολή στον πολιτισμό σε συλλογικό επίπεδο.
Το 2021 η Κίρκη δημιουργεί το Circe, την προσωπική της αρχιτεκτονική πρακτική, εστιάζοντας αποκλειστικά στο σχεδιασμό ενσυνείδητων εμπειριών σε μοναδικές κατοικίες. Μέσω της επικοινωνίας και της εννοιολογικής ανάλυσης, ο στόχος είναι να εξερευνήσουμε και να ανακαλύψουμε όλες τις πτυχές της ύπαρξής μας και να τις ενσταλάξουμε στο έργο, αναπνέοντας ζωή σε κάθε σχεδιασμό σπιτιού.

Thought | concept is the initial idea of the narrative, the one that will differentiate each project from the next, rendering it unique and original.
Plot | layout constitutes the most important part of the architectural narrative. It determines the user experience,
the motives, the challenges and the activities/actions. It defines the goal, the routes and the functions.
Basic storyline – basic layout.
Characters | users located in the epicenter of all the design procedure, are the heroes of the story.
Their motives, ambitions, problems and needs are the elements that define all of the architectural narrative.
Theory | definition embodies all the theoretical background of the narrative and is inextricable part of it.
Can an architectural narrative speak to people?
Melody | aesthetics | experience specify the form of the architectural elements of the narrative. The colors, the textures, the material, the motifs. The aesthetic composes the experience of space, awakens the senses and stimulates the emotions of each user. Harmony, rhythm, intimacy.
Image | spectacle is the design details – the specific characteristics that will be engraved in the memory of the guest and user and will impress. It’s the choices in furniture, accessories, works of art etc.
Σκέψη | concept είναι η αρχική ιδέα του αφηγήματος, αυτό που θα διαφοροποιήσει το ένα έργο από το άλλο και θα το καταστήσει μοναδικό και πρωτότυπο.
Πλοκή | κάτοψη αποτελεί το πιο σημαντικό μέρος του αρχιτεκτονικού αφηγήματος. Ορίζει το τί θα βιώσουν οι χαρακτήρες/χρήστες, καθορίζει τα κίνητρα, τις προκλήσεις και τις δραστηριότητες. Προσδιορίζει τον στόχο, τις διαδρομές και τις λειτουργίες.
Basic storyline - βασική διαρρύθμιση.
Χαρακτήρες | χρήστες, βρίσκονται στο επίκεντρο ολόκληρης της διαδικασίας σχεδιασμού, είναι οι πρωταγωνιστές της ιστορίας.
Τα κίνητρα, οι φιλοδοξίες, τα προβλήματα και οι ανάγκες τους καθορίζουν όλο τον αρχιτεκτονικό αφήγημα.
Θεωρία | λεκτικό ενσωματώνει όλο το θεωρητικό υπόβαθρο του αφηγήματος και είναι αναπόσπαστο κομμάτι του.
Μπορεί ένα αρχιτεκτονικό αφήγημα να μιλήσει στους ανθρώπους;
Μελωδία | αισθητική | εμπειρία προσδιορίζει την μορφή των αρχιτεκτονικών στοιχείων του αφήγηματος. Τα χρώματα, τις υφές,
τα υλικά, τα μοτίβα. Η αισθητική συνθέτει την εμπειρία του χώρου, αφυπνίζει τις αισθήσεις και διεγείρει τα συναισθήματα που θα βιώσει ο εκάστοτε χρήστης. Αρμονία, ρυθμός, οικειότητα.
Εικόνα | θέαμα είναι οι λεπτομέρειες σχεδίασης - τα ειδικά χαρακτηριστικά που θα χαραχτούν στην μνήμη του επισκέπτη και χρήστη και θα εντυπωσιάσουν. Είναι οι επιλογές επίπλων, αξεσουάρ, έργων τεχνης, κτλ.

Welcome to Kipseli Architects in Athens, Greece!
Our new office space has been designed with great attention to detail to create an environment that inspires creativity and productivity. As a bespoke house design studio, we wanted our office to reflect our passion for architecture and the unique design solutions we offer to our clients.
At the center of our new office is a House archetype, which serves as both an everyday meeting space and a separate office booth. This oversized architectural model is waiting to be transformed into a real-life house, and it embodies our commitment to creating spaces that are both functional and beautiful.
Surrounding the house is a carefully curated mix of different areas that support our work and inspire our creativity. The material area showcases a range of textures, finishes, and colors that we incorporate into our designs. The office desk area provides a dedicated workspace for our team members, while the front lobby is a welcoming space for clients and visitors as it features a heart-shaped light that serves as a symbol of our commitment to creating houses with heart.
Moving towards the back of our office, you will find Circe’s office, which is designed as a black thinking box. This space is where the core of our business takes place, as we collaborate with our clients to create bespoke house designs that meet their unique needs and desires. The floating picture frames, the coloured light, the blue skies with crafted clouds and the millimetric mirror are meant to inspire creativity and imagination, reminding us that the possibilities for designing truly exceptional spaces are endless.
Overall, our new office space is designed to embody our passion for architecture while also providing our team with the tools and environment needed to excel in our work. We believe that by creating houses with heart and using a variety of different materials, we can help our clients find happiness and joy in the spaces they call home.

Kipseli Architects aims at architecturally expressing the originality arising from the analysis of the requirements and the unique characteristics of each project. For us, the conception as well as the manifestation of every architectural composition and idea, is always carried out and completed through a collective process of opinion exchange and dialogue.
The motive for this co-creative composing process emanates from personal philosophical quest.

Το έναυσμα για αυτήν την συνδημιουργική συνθετική διαδικασία προέρχεται μέσα από προσωπική φιλοσοφική αναζήτησή.
