Kipseli Architects aims at architecturally expressing the diversity as a result of analysis of the requirements and the characteristics of each project. For us, the design process starts from the location – the lot in a case of a new building project or the preexisting structure in case of internal configuration/renovation. That, combined with the history and the requirements of the project, lay the foundations for the next stages of design. In residency projects, another vital element taken into account is that of the owner, as he/she shares his/her experiences, deeper needs and desires.
The first design step for Kipseli Architects is the plot | layout, the sequence of spaces and possible uses and all the alternative routes the users can follow. During this stage, the spatial points of focus are defined as well as the user experiences generated as a result of that.
Having defined the points of focus and the routes, we then determine the thought | concept, the main narrative we want to communicate. The main narrative of a public space for example might be the history of the area or a myth or even a game. The main idea of a store might come from a brand of great significance to the store or a new product collection or even items relating to the mainstream culture.
Having set the plot of the story, the next step is to define the melody | aesthetics | experience, meaning the form, the structure, the material and the colors we will use to narrate it.
